About Tony Piper

From Technology to Human Understanding

After 27 years in technology leadership - from developer to IT Director and Head of Technical Consultancy - I've learned that success isn't just about having the right tools or strategies. As someone who led innovation teams and managed technical transformations across continents, I discovered something surprising: your wisdom is already there – it's just waiting for the right conditions to emerge.

The Journey to Coaching

Like many technical leaders, I never set out to be a "people person." When a boss told me early in my career that I'd never be one, it sparked an unexpected journey of discovery.

What followed was a fascinating journey through NLP, Neurolinguistic Psychotherapy, and Clean Language, ultimately leading me to the Three Principles approach. Along the way, I made a profound discovery: most technical problems are actually people problems in disguise.

This journey led me to become a Professional Clean Coach while still in my technical role. After seeing the impact of this approach, I transitioned to coaching in-house, where I could fully apply my understanding of both technical and human challenges. I later became a certified Clarity Coach and established my independent practice in 2019.

The Impact on My Clients

What my clients discover surprises them: they can handle the people side of leadership without abandoning their technical identity. When they stop trying to become someone they're not, they find a natural clarity that transforms how they operate. When you access this state of clarity:

  • Decision-making becomes more natural and confident

  • Stress levels significantly decrease

  • Leadership capabilities expand effortlessly

  • Burnout becomes a thing of the past

A Different Approach

Here's the surprising truth: you're just one thought away from this understanding. It's not about learning new techniques or mastering complex concepts. In fact, trying too hard to "figure it out" often gets in the way.

This approach is particularly powerful for people who process thoughts rapidly - including those with ADHD or autism, something I understand from personal experience. Rather than trying to slow down thinking or change how the mind works, we focus on noticing those moments when life is experienced differently. These glimpses of clarity are already happening; they're just often overlooked in the rush of thoughts.

Some clients experience this shift rapidly, like a light switching on. For others, the insight emerges more gradually. Either way, the approach remains consistent: we get curious about those times when you're already experiencing life differently, regardless of how brief those moments might be.

The revelation that our experience comes from our thinking, not our circumstances, changes everything. When you see this, even complex challenges become manageable.

What Sets This Approach Apart

  • I focus on "being" before "doing"

  • I help you find calm rather than just cope with chaos

  • I trust in your innate wisdom rather than external solutions

  • I guide you to rely less on thinking when it's not serving you
